Deoxycholic acid, also known as “Belkyra” is naturally found in our gut and works to dissolve fat cells. This treatment involves injections into areas that have stubborn unwanted fat (ex. under the chin) to permanently dissolve the fat cells in that target area.
When will I see results after Deoxycholic Acid treatment and how long do the results last for?
Full results will be seen at 5 weeks and are permanent! To obtain optimal results, 2-4 treatments are usually needed. Re-treatment is usually not necessary once desired results are achieved.
Does Deoxcycholic Acid treatments hurt?
The treatment itself is quite fast and usually takes about 15 minutes. Injections are administered with a very small needle and topical numbing cream is used to increase comfort. After the treatment, swelling and bruising is common and may last for a few days.
